Novak Djokovic just teased his fans with a possible participation in the upcoming Wimbledon Grand Slam major tennis event after practicing on the grass court with a compression knee sleeve.
Months after going under the knife to fix his torn meniscus in his right knee, Djokovic is already warming up after hitting a couple of practice sessions at the All England Club.
However, the Serbian tennis superstar didn’t provide any specific answers if he will formally make his entry in the Grand Slam event.
“I didn’t come here to play a few rounds. You can never really know 100 percent once you start a tournament what’s going to happen after eventual first match or second match,” Djokovic said in an interview with BBC.
It was during the fourth round of the French Open when Djokovic injured his right knee when he went up against Francisco Cerundolo
Although Djokovic pulled off the win, he failed to advance to the next round of the Roland Garros when he decided to withdraw from the tournament.
“I am really sad to announce that I have to withdraw from Roland Garros. I played with my heart and gave my all in yesterday’s match and unfortunately, due to a medial meniscus tear in my right knee, my team and I had to make a tough decision after careful consideration and consultation,” posted Djokovic.
Before making any moves regarding Wimbledon, Djokovic already made himself available for the upcoming Olympics to be held in Paris, France.
It was the Serbian Olympic Committee who announced that Djokovic will be officially part of the team that will compete in Paris.
“But I’m going to take it day by day and then make a decision based on, of course, the feeling or the observation or the conclusion that I and team members have made over the next four, five, six days. If I know that I can play close to my maximum, or at maximum, then I’ll play. If not, then I’ll give somebody else the chance to play,” added Djokovic.
