A local government employee was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation on the morning of July 2 in Banate, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspect as Romeo, 39, of Barangay Poblacion, Banate.

Members of the Banate Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for ₱1,000 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Alacaygan, Banate.

During a frisk, police recovered three more sachets of suspected shabu, ₱2,170 in cash, including the marked money, and other non-drug items.

The seized drugs weighed around 10 grams with a standard drug price of ₱68,000.

Colonel Bayani Razalan, Iloilo police chief, stated that the suspect’s arrest is part of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, emphasizing that no individual, regardless of their position or influence, is above the law.

“We are committed to continuing our relentless efforts until all those involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province are arrested,” he said.

The Iloilo police chief also vowed to strictly enforce the law without fear or favor.
