BACOLOD CITY – Three persons were arrested after police raided a computer shop allegedly used as a drug den in Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental, last Monday.
The suspects, aged 23, 29, and 49, were identified as street-level individuals, according to the police. Confiscated from them were 14 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱95,200 and ₱3,000 in marked money.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay City police chief, said the computer shop was allegedly being used as a distribution point for illegal drugs.
The 49-year-old suspect was the primary target of the operation, while his two companions allegedly served as his drug runner and spotter.
“The older suspect is an alleged source of illegal drugs in Barangay Rizal,” Darroca said.
The illegal drugs reportedly came from Bacolod City and were delivered to him by an unknown person. This matter is subject to a follow-up investigation.
The suspects were arrested after a three-week surveillance operation following information from the community about their alleged illegal activities.
In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man and his 31-year-old alleged cohort, both residents of E.B. Magalona town, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, yesterday.
Police seized from them eight grams of suspected shabu worth ₱54,400 and ₱1,800 in marked money.
Darroca said the younger suspect is one of the alleged sources of illegal drugs in Barangay E. Lopez.
He added that the suspect had previously evaded three buy-bust operations conducted by Silay police and was also a subject of a buy-bust operation by the neighboring E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station, but managed to evade arrest.
