The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has deployed over 1,800 field personnel in Iloilo to conduct house-to-house enumeration for the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).
The initiative, which began on July 15, aims to update the list of beneficiaries for social protection programs and improve government anti-poverty efforts.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the PSA to use the CBMS to update the beneficiary list for programs like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Conducting the CBMS alongside the POPCEN, originally scheduled for 2025, is intended to minimize respondent fatigue and optimize government resources.
President Marcos also declared July 2024 as “National Census and Community-Based Monitoring System Month,” supporting the conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS from July to September 2024.
In Iloilo, the team includes 1,507 enumerators, 257 team supervisors, and 65 census area supervisors. These personnel will visit households to ensure comprehensive data collection.
The information gathered will update the country’s population inventory and the list of beneficiaries for social protection programs. It will also aid in the planning, formulation, and implementation of poverty alleviation initiatives.
The PSA emphasizes the importance of public cooperation for the success of this nationwide statistical activity.
For more information and updates, residents are encouraged to visit the PSA’s official website or contact their local PSA offices.
