Cabayugan women weavers receive DTI equipment support

The Cabayugan Women’s Loom Weaving Association (CWLWA) in Badiangan, Iloilo has received ₱367,500 worth of equipment under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Iloilo’s Shared Service Facility (SSF) Program.

The new equipment includes two steel-framed looms, five wooden looms, three manual sewing machines, a single-needle straight lockstitch sewing machine, a zigzag/embroidery sewing machine, and an edging machine.

Mayor Suzette A. Mamon, in her remarks, highlighted that the CWLWA, through the Negosyo Center Badiangan, will engage in capacity development with a focus on recordkeeping and product development through mentoring and training.

She also mentioned efforts to include the women’s loom-weaving center in the province’s tourism loop as part of the MoreProgress program of the Provincial Government.

DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Ma. Dinda R. Tamayo reminded CWLWA, as the program’s cooperator, to maximize the use of the SSF, particularly for the benefit of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the weaving industry in Badiangan.

Following the launch, Mayor Mamon and Director Tamayo signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the renewal of Negosyo Center operations in Badiangan.

The SSF is a flagship project of DTI designed to enhance the productivity and efficiency of MSMEs by providing access to technology.

The Negosyo Center Program, established under Republic Act No. 10644, also known as the Go Negosyo Act, promotes ease of doing business and facilitates access to services for MSMEs.
