MANILA—GCash, the Philippines’ leading financial super app, has reinforced its commitment to cybersecurity and fraud prevention through heightened collaboration with stakeholders, law enforcement, and public awareness initiatives.
The company emphasized that trust, security, and user protection remain its top priorities as it continues to enhance security measures and invest in advanced technologies to combat digital threats.
GCash has implemented DoubleSafe, an innovative security feature that utilizes facial recognition and liveliness detection to ensure only registered account holders can access their accounts.
Complementing these technological safeguards is #GSafeTayo, an ongoing public awareness and customer education campaign designed to help users identify and avoid scams.
“As cybercriminals continue to evolve in sophistication, our company has adopted a two-pronged approach: We provide our customers with the necessary information and resources to protect themselves, and we remain committed to investing in cutting-edge technologies to ensure secure and effortless transactions,” said GCash Chief Information and Security Officer Miguel Geronilla.
Geronilla also noted that the Philippines’ high internet penetration rate has contributed to the rise in cyber fraud, making proactive security measures even more critical.
GCash has strengthened its partnerships with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and other agencies to swiftly and effectively address reported cases.
In 2024, joint operations between authorities and GCash led to multiple cybercrime-related arrests, reflecting the success of these collaborations.
“We are grateful for our continued partnership with law enforcement agencies and for the opportunity to support their efforts in combating cybercriminality,” Geronilla added. “At GCash, we uphold the vision of a secure digital financial ecosystem that aligns with the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens.”
As part of its Finance for All mission, GCash remains committed to providing a safe and accessible digital platform where Filipinos—regardless of background or location—can securely manage their finances.
The company continues to innovate and adapt to evolving cyber threats, ensuring a seamless and secure digital experience that strengthens the Philippines’ digital economy.
GCash encourages users to report suspicious activities through the GCash Help Center at help.gcash.com or via the app’s customer service chatbot, Gigi, by typing “I want to report a scam.” Users may also call the GCash hotline at 2882 for assistance.
