A man was found dead inside a parked vehicle on the morning of March 9 in Bingawan, Iloilo.

Authorities believe Romy, 34, a resident of Barangay Simsiman, Lambunao, Iloilo, had been dead for several hours before his body was discovered at around 6:40 a.m. Sunday.

According to reports, Romy, a sound system operator, and a companion had participated in a mini sound system showdown as part of the fiesta celebration in Barangay Agba-o, Bingawan.

They parked their truck about 40 meters from the barangay hall, where the event was set to take place.

Lt. Philip Girao, Bingawan police chief, said witnesses recalled hearing a loud thud sometime after 10 p.m. Saturday.

However, they dismissed the sound since the noise from the event’s sound systems drowned it out.

The incident came to light when Romy’s companion, Nervin Baldon, 40, of Barangay Balaticon, Calinog, went to the gym to wake him.

Blood was oozing from the victim’s head as he sat in the truck’s front seat.

Girao said initial findings suggest the victim was shot once.

As of press time, police have not identified any suspects. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the killing.
