Filipina teen sensation Alex Eala made history as the first Filipina to secure a top 5 seat in the world rankings of Juniors tennis.

Fresh from her dominant Australian Open stint winning the Juniors doubles, Eala improved her ranking from world no. 9 to world no. 4 in just a month.

Eala’s staggering point boost was made possible because of their upset win against top-seeded Kamilla Bartone and Linda Fruhvirtova, leading them to clinch the Australian Open doubles title.

Despite falling short in the third round of the singles category, the first two wins Eala clinched in a grand slam tournament also added up to her point total.

The 14-year old sensation has a high chance of clinching the world no. 1 with three grand slam tournaments left, namely, Wimbledon, US Open, and the French Open.

“Well I really don’t know what to expect going into a tournament in that high level. Everyone being of course very experienced and everyone being good. We just do whatever and be prepared,” said Eala.
