Atom Araullo goes on a food trip this Sunday

Filipinos love to eat. And with the number of food businesses becoming more popular even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, there is no doubt that ‘food is essential’.

Join Atom Araullo this Sunday (Nov. 14) as he explores some of the country’s considered food capitals.

First on the list is Manila where there is a street known for a food crawl: Ugbo Street in Tondo. Here, one will find a variety of street food such as takoyaki and even old time favorites halo-halo and puto bumbong—the latter perfect for the Christmas season.

Next on Atom’s itinerary is Pampangathe culinary capital of the country. He will meet the centenarian Aeta, Apo Jungle, to share how they overcame the trials with the help of food. Atom’s visit to Pampanga would not be complete without him tasting the classic tsokolate de batirol and Aling Lucing’s special sisig.

From Pampanga, Atom will go further North, to the country’s Summer Capital to learn how ancient dishes such as pinikpikan are being modified to suit our time. He will also enter a lengua de gato factory and will visit the famous Vizco’s cake shop where pasalubong and strawberries have become part of Baguio’s identity.

Atom’s last stop is Roxas City in the province of Capizknown as the Seafood Capital of the Philippines. Here, Atom will discover the riches of the ocean and rivers of Capizfrom fresh lapu-lapu to scallops and the diwal or angel wings clam that can only be found in a few provinces. Atom will also dive into the mud to hunt for puyoy or eel, one of the most popular street foods in the area.
