BACOLOD CITY – In a bid to promote a healthier lifestyle and a cleaner environment, the city government of Bacolod will implement a Car-Free Sunday, starting June 9.

The route from Lacson Street from Ramos to South Capitol Road will be closed to all motorized vehicles from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, said that this would allow pedestrians, joggers, and bikers to use the 1.2-kilometer stretch of Lacson Streets.

People can have four hours of walking and biking to explore other community activities.

This is also part of the city’s environment month initiatives, wherein they are promoting good air quality, as they raise public awareness about the benefits of walking, jogging, running, and cycling as substantial ways to travel.

Benitez said that they would talk with the business establishments in the area to get their sentiments about the said move.
