Globe names first chief AI Officer, forms AI group

Anton Bonifacio, an expert in cybersecurity and data privacy and currently Globe’s Chief Information Security Officer, has been named as Globe’s first Chief AI Officer (CAIO).

Globe Telecom has announced the creation of a new group dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) development, marking another industry-leading move to enhance its digital solutions and services.

The new AI Development and Enablement Group (AIDE) will officially commence operations on June 1, 2024.

Ernest Cu, Globe’s President and CEO, revealed this significant stride aimed at leveraging AI to improve business operations, service delivery, and customer experience.

“To sustain our competitive advantage, we must continuously innovate and adopt new technologies. The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) signals a pivotal shift, promising to revolutionize the way we do business and serve our customers,” Cu said.

“We’ve begun to see AI’s impact across different teams at Globe, but it is imperative that we move forward with unified intent and renewed vigor to navigate these new technological frontiers swiftly.”

Anton Bonifacio, Globe’s Chief Information Security Officer and an expert in cybersecurity and data privacy, has been appointed as the company’s first Chief AI Officer (CAIO). Bonifacio has been instrumental in driving some of Globe’s innovations in data protection and cyber defense.

“The creation of AIDE signifies a strategic investment in our technological capabilities and a concerted effort to integrate AI seamlessly into our operations,” Bonifacio said.

Globe has already integrated AI into several aspects of its business operations, enhancing efficiency and cost management.

AI applications are in various stages of implementation in areas such as credit and collection, financial reporting, procurement contracts, customer care, and credit scoring. Bonifacio emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and responsible AI use.
