BACOLOD City – A power outage hit Negros Island starting 5.24 a.m. yesterday.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said it monitored the tripping of several power plants in Negros Oriental and Iloilo, resulting in a significant supply deficiency in Negros and Panay.
The unscheduled power interruption affected the NGCP’s Bacolod-San Enrique and Bacolod-Alijis 69kV transmission lines (TL), and the Bacolod-Silay and Bacolod-Reclamation 69kV TL of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) here.
It also affected the areas covering the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (Noneco) and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) in Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental Electric Cooperatives I and II.
Ceneco, in its advisory, said that power was eventually restored to a portion of its coverage areas.
However, the NGCP implemented manual load dropping, leaving some feeders still unenergized, to maintain the integrity of the transmission grid.
As of 3:35 p.m. Ceneco announced that all its feeders were online.
