Break the Silence program helps build safe spaces for victims of abuse

CAMELEON Philippines in partnership with ZONTA Club Bacolod held its Break the Silence program as a part of their advocacy at the Bacolod City Government Center Lobby.

The event assembled various non-government organizations (NGOs), advocacy groups, local government units (LGUs), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDOs), and City SWDOs from the province of Negros Occidental to create good impact and build safe spaces to encourage more survivors in speaking up.

The attendees witnessed performances from the girls from different cities and municipalities and the display of a multitude of visual arts from the survivors. These paintings have served as their form of self expression and as a part of their psychotherapy sessions.

CAMELEON introduced their three main strategies in catering to the needs of the survivors. First, the Rehabilitation Program that served as a support program for the sexually abused children towards recovery, Community Development for the less fortunate, and the Advocacy Programs that produce preventative measures and mechanisms against the culture of abuse.
