Kai Sotto’s NBA G-League head coach Brian Shaw is already excited to set foot on the hardwood and work with the hefty leftie’s game.

As early as now, Shaw already sees the potential of Kai and what he can contribute in the future, even comparing his game to Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic.

Shaw explained that Sotto has many skills Jokic has, outside shooting ability and his capacity to facilitate for his teammates.

“Kai can shoot the ball from the outside. Obviously, I haven’t had the chance to be around him yet, but from the film I’ve watched on him, it looks like he can shoot the ball from the outside. He can be a facilitator where you can put him on the top of the floor, give him the ball, and do dribble hand-offs much like Jokic,” Shaw said.

Scouted to be one of the most dominant big men in the class of 2020 rookies, Sotto showed flashes of brilliance during his stint with The Skills Factory in Atlanta where he blossomed more with the higher level of competition.

“Obviously, he has to get stronger, but I think that he can play with his back to the basket as well as facing the basket and facilitate for his teammates,” added Shaw.

Teaming up with Fil-am Jalen Green and the other high school top prospects, Shaw is pretty excited to share the same court with Sotto and his gang.
