Brothers nabbed for murder of 4-year-old boy

BACOLOD City – After four months of hiding, two brothers were arrested Tuesday for the murder of a four-year-old boy in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last year.

Police arrested Jaker Dela Torre, 27, and Jay-Ar Dela Torre, 31 at their house in Barangay 3.

According to Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, the Dela Torres were the suspects in a shooting incident at Sitio Palasanan, Barangay Mahalang last October 14 2020 that resulted in the death of the child.

The suspects allegedly targeted the victim’s father due to grudges, but the child was hit instead by a bullet in the head.

Authorities served the arrest warrants against the two suspects for murder in relation to Republic Act 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and attempted murder.

The arrest warrants dated February 3, 2021 were issued by Acting Presiding Judge Walter Zorilla of Regional Trial Court Branch 56 in Himamaylan City.

The court had set no bail for murder in relation to RA 7610, while the court recommended a bail of P120,000 for attempted murder.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 director lauded the accomplishment of the Himamaylan City Police Station.
