BACOLOD City – Two persons were shot dead while another was injured after they figured in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Bacolod and Silay in Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

In Silay, a former inmate of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City was gunned down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at Barangay Mambulac.

Killed was Ronald Suating, 45, of the said village, who was released from the national penitentiary last year.

According to Lieutenant Guilmor Cuare, deputy police chief of Silay City Police Station, the victim was having snacks outside the house of his girlfriend when the perpetrators arrived, and one of them shot him in the head at close range, and other parts of his body.

Cuare said the victim succumbed to six gunshot wounds.

Police recovered from the scene six cases of .45 caliber ammunition.

Cuare said the victim was charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs in December 2011 and was convicted for the said offense in July 2013.

He was released last year after he had served his sentence, the deputy police chief added.

Cuare said the victim was a street level individual and was on the drugs watchlist of the police station.

Although the killing might be linked to illegal drugs, Cuare said they are also looking into personal as one of the angles.

Meanwhile, Salvador Regalado, 42, of Barangay 2 here was also shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants in the said village that evening.

Lieutenant Liberty Indiape, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said that Regalado was standing in the area and talking to some bystanders when the perpetrators arrived and shot him.

Indiape said Regalado was able to walk a few meters away but fell to the ground due to four gunshot wounds. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Police recovered from Regalado’s pocket a sachet of suspected shabu.

Indiape said Glomer Mampag, 30, of Iloilo, who was also in the area was injured after he was hit by a stray bullet in his left abdomen. He is confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

Police recovered from the scene eight empty shells of .45 caliber.

Indiape said Regalado was under the drugs watchlist of Police Station 2.

“Sige pa ang investigation, but the killing might be due to personal or his alleged link in illegal drugs,” she added.
