BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) has temporarily transferred to a new location while it is in transition to a new officer-in-charge.

Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said yesterday that BTAO temporarily occupies a space in a building at BazketBCD, 15th Lacson Street. This includes their office and impounding area, he added.

Benitez said that BTAO has started vacating their previous office inside the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) headquarters.

He said that it was offered by a concerned citizen with a “good heart” for BTAO to use, but there was no actual arrangement yet.

This development came after Police Colonel Noel Aliño, BCPO director, earlier made a proposal to the local government to remove BTAO from the compound of the BCPO headquarters for security reasons.

Benitez, said early this week that they have been considering it also.

Aliño has clarified previously that this move has no link with the recent issues of BTAO, stressing that they just wanted to secure the BCPO personnel and the headquarters from various individuals who are going in and out of the compound to get their impounded vehicles.
