Blue skies arrays from above as the sunlight shines telling it’s the sunny time of the year. It’s definitely the time to be close with nature such as forests invite you with its cool air and free zen.
The province of Iloilo does not only offer mouth-watering dishes, chronicled and famous tourism sites, rich cultural antiquity and improving economy, but it has something others may have not seen. It has to do with various natural spots found in the area, including watersheds, forests, mountains, rivers, beaches and the like.
Who would have thought that aside from these existing areas, Iloilo has also this resplendent scenery one could visit and come across?
Yes! This is the Bulabog Puti-an National Park (BPNP), known as a protected wildlife and natural park, lies between the town of Dingle in the barangays of Moroboro, Lincud, Tulatula-an, Caguyuman and Camambugan and the town of San Enrique in the barangays of Compo, Liap-ac, Rumagayray and Palje.
It covers about 847.33 hectares and features diverse species of plants and animals. This is to include variety of Molave, Narra and Dao trees, passing by the century old tree while walking in the vicinity.
Moreover, among the species of fauna in BPNP are bats, snakes, gecko, white eared brown dove and long-tailed macaque.
The park is also surrounded with more or less 30 caves with only six (6) caves are accessible and can be trekked which includes Maestranza, Guiso and Tuko Caves.
According to accounts these caves also hold important historical sites since it was used as a hideout by the revolutionary forces in Iloilo during the Spanish era. Many of the caves’ walls has still text engraved by the war heroes of the past, which one reads “Los Republicanos Juran Morir Antes Que Entregarse,” or The Republicans Swear To die Before Surrendering.
BPNP is a place where people spent their time during weekends and during holy week, to unwind, relax and feel nature’s calm breeze. Walking thru the footpath, exploring the area, one might think that somehow we still have this splendor of nature that we can enjoy.
This national park does not only let you reminisce the monumental remarks of the past but also bring you the splendid beauty of nature.
