A 21-year-old female call center agent was wounded after she fought off a motorcycle-riding robber on Oct 22, 2022 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Rose (not her real name), who is temporarily residing at Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao, was on her way to work around 12:50 a.m. Saturday when the attack happened.

Prior to the incident, the victim allegedly met some friends during her break time at a bar in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao.

She later went ahead of the group to clock in at a BPO company in San Rafael village,

She was walking near a membership shopping store when a motorcycle passed by.

The rider allegedly went ahead of her only to stop several meters away. The driver allegedly posed as if he was fixing something on his motorcycle.

But when Rose passed by, the man allegedly poked a handgun and declared a hold-up.

When the robber demanded her wallet, she claimed to have none.

This prompted the robber to get her mobile phone. The victim claimed she tried to run off but slipped.

Major Rey Sumagaysay, Iloilo City Police Station 5 chief, said the woman fought off her lone assailant thinking that she could overpower him.

The man was slim built and about the same height as her.

When she didn’t give her mobile phone, the man allegedly struck her with something and hit her face near her eyebrow.

When the suspect got hold of her phone, Rose shouted for her help.

Three men heard her plea, prompting the suspect to flee towards Atria District.

Sumagaysay said he was on duty at that time at the nearby Smallville Complex when they received a call about the incident.

Rose went back to where her friends were at the bar.

Sumagaysay said they already reviewed several CCTV camera footage.

They also conducted a walkthrough at the area where the alleged incident happened.

While the suspect was not wearing a crash helmet or face mask, the victim claimed she did not clearly see his face.
