CARE Blasts-off BAWAW 2019 on Sept 30

The Bacolod Community Animal Rescue Efforts, Inc. (CARE) announces its soon to be regular “LibreKapon Program”. They say, “For animal love and compassion, Kapon ang Solusyon”

THE Bacolod Community Animal Rescue Efforts, Inc. (CARE) celebrates its fourth anniversary by organizing a week-long BAWAW 2019 highlighting “love of all God’s creation and halt cruelty to animals” events and activities at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central Activity Center this coming September 30 to October 6.

BAWAW stands for the Bacolod City Ordinance 825 otherwise known as the “Bacolod Animal Welfare Awareness Week” (BAWAW) principally authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. who earlier declared that said BAWAW 2019 and the week-long activity at the Ayala Malls is a giant step in transforming Bacolod City as officially an Animal Friendly City.

CARE explained, in a statement, that the core essence of BAWAW is that human beings should realize and understand that animals have a sense of emotion, their own expression and the capability to love, be loyal and friendly; to passively and actively abuse them is ignorance about animals in the natural environment and abject cruelty which is against existing laws.

CARE also disclosed that one of the objectives of the celebration is to enhance awareness of love for animals and to raise funds for its community project by way of its “LibreKapon Program” together with Magnus Dog Food, Co. and CV Freedom Agrivet.

This “LibreKapon Program” will greatly reduce the number of unwanted and stray dogs which if kept unchecked, they are scavenging trash cans, defecating everywhere, unsafe even to motorists and can expose humans to rabis infected bites.

With these thoughts, the CARE-BAWAW 2019 at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central Activity Center lined up numerous events and activities which will officially open this September 30.

The Activity Center will house Booth Bazaars selling different choices of foods, accessories, bags, clothes, among others, Pet Kissing Photo Booth, Pet adoption Booth and a Pledge Wall where attendees can write thoughts, message, prayers or wishes not only for “furry friends” but also to keep marine life protected and pollution-free environment.

The CARE-BAWAW 2019 celebration is doubly meaningful as the “World Animal Day” which falls on October 4 (Friday) will be among the highlights of the celebration and that the feast day of the Patron Saints of Animals, Saint Francis of Assissi fall on this date also.

Likewise, local artists will have a role also through the PET d’ARTS “Turning Trash to Treasure” challenge on October 5 (Saturday) where artists are encouraged to participate in CARE advocacy by creating, innovating and expressing love for animals masterpieces from recycled and upcycled materials; prizes await winners, 1st prize P7,000, 2nd prize P3,000 and 3rd prize P2,000.

Side by side with the PET d’ARTS on the same date (Saturday) is the “Pet Got Talent Show” where participating pets will be judged according performance, audience response, stage appearance, originality, and personality; prizes await winners, 1st prize P7,000, 2nd prize P3,000 and 3rd prize P2,000.
