Man dies, 4 hurt after truck hits wall, tree

BACOLOD City – A man died while four others were injured after a pick-up truck hit a wall and a mango tree at Purok 1, Barangay Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Tuesday, September 24.

Killed was Noe Degillo, 42, of the said village.

Wounded were Rogelio Degillo, 60; Gene Elardo, 59; Mark Ebarat, 42; and a five-year-old girl.

Police Major Lowell Garinganao, town police chief, said a speeding pick-up truck driven by Noe allegedly hit the wall of a house owned by Allan Margarce and also hit a mango tree when he was passing through a curved road.

Garinganao said Noe sustained head and chest injuries and was declared dead at a hospital while his four passengers sustained minor injuries and are confined at a hospital.

Garinganao said Margarce’s family was inside their house when the accident happened but they were unharmed.

Garinganao said Noe was allegedly under the influence of liquor after they came from a family gathering in Sipalay City.

They were on their way home when it happened, he added.
