Chongqing delegation met BOI officials to explore enhanced economic cooperation with PHL

Seeking to strengthen economic ties and make new investment opportunities happen, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Board of Investments (BOI) welcomed the official delegation from Chongqing, China in a meeting on July 19, 2023 at the BOI Main Office in Makati City.

Cagatan (seventh), BOI Director Lanie Dormiendo (ninth), Vice Consul Mario Tani (eleventh) and other members of the Chongqing delegation.

The BOI officials, led by Undersecretary Rodolfo, discussed investment opportunities with the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and Chongqing Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Madam Lu Hong, on behalf of the Chongqing delegation, discussed the latest economic and social developments in Chongqing and their proposal to strengthen cooperation between Chongqing and the Philippines particularly in the areas of education, tourism, trade, logistics, and the International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC).

“The Philippines will benefit from Chongqing’s technical know-how and experience in overcoming the Chongqing’s geographical challenges. I am also excited about the opportunities that lie ahead given the strategic geographic location of the Philippines and its potential as a gateway for Chinese companies based in Chongqing that are looking to expand into Southeast Asia,” Undersecretary Rodolfo said.

Executive Director Cagatan further stated that Chongqing’s strengths in manufacturing and infrastructure complements the needs of the Philippines.

Also, the BOI is keen to receiving more business delegations from Chongqing interested in finding more about the country.
