Veteran star point guard Chris Ross is officially back in the Philippines after flying to Texas due to the death of his father two months ago.

The defensive specialist is currently undergoing his quarantine and will return to the Beermen once everything is cleared.

In an interview with SPIN.ph, Ross confirmed that he is still trying to move on from the tragic death of his father.

“It started off bad and I was in a deep hole mentally and I dug myself out, then it ended with the most difficult three months of my life!,” said Ross.

Ross hasn’t played a single game after the kick-off of the 2021 PBA Governor’s Cup and is expected to lace his shoes once the league resumes.

The addition of the 38-year-old Ross will be a huge boost to the SMB team that is longing for another title after a disappointing playoff loss against the TNT Tropang Giga last conference.

Ross will also begin his 2022 without his long-time backcourt pal Alex Cabagnot and co-death five member Arwind Santos who were shipped away by SMB during the off-season.

Currently, San Miguel is sitting in the middle of the rankings with three wins and two losses but is seeking to bounce back strong with Ross back in the active lineup.

However, Ross’ Governor’s Cup debut with the Beermen will face a delay after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) placed Metro Manila under COVID-19 Alert Level 3 where contact sports are prohibited.
