BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here approved last Tuesday the P10.3-million subsidy for the barangays that will join this year’s MassKara street dance and arena competition and Electric Masskara.
Ten barangays joining the MassKara street dance and arena competition will each receive a P700,000 subsidy from the city government, while the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation will shoulder the P50,000 cash assistance, or a total of P750,000, according to Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez.
Participating barangays in the street dance and arena competition include defending champion Barangay Granada, Sum-ag, Tangub, 34, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, Handumanan, Cabug, 21, and 40.

Benitez said that the same cash prize will be given to the winners – P1 million for the champion of the street dance, and P500,000 for the Electric MassKara champion.
“Ga bira-bira gid sila practice,” he said.
Meanwhile, Benitez said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to grace the highlights of the festival next month.

The Electric Masskara competition will be held on October 21 from the Upper East Megaworld to the Bacolod City Government Center, while the MassKara street dance and arena competition will be on October 22 at the Paglaum Stadium.
