A state-of-the-art satellite building which is expected to boost the emergency response of the metro was inaugurated at Brgy. Calumpang in Molo district on Monday, Nov 8, 2021.

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, the Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) Center satellite building will be equipped with an ambulance, police patrol, and a fire truck.

“The facility is the first-of-its-kind in Western Visayas. It will be equipped with an ambulance, police patrol and fire truck,” he said.

The same satellite building will also be established in other parts of the metro as the city aims to bring emergency response services closer to the residents.

“We also put up satellite buildings in Ungka in Jaro; Nabitasan in La Paz; Sooc in Arevalo and Tanza Esperanza in City Proper. We are bringing faster emergency response services closer to the constituents,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Command Center of the ICARE is currently being constructed at Gaisano Iloilo City Center (ICC) along Diversion Road in Mandurriao district. The command center which was established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme will be operational by the first quarter of next year.

The five-storey command center will house the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), additional police and fire stations. (ERS)
