BACOLOD CITY – A 23-year-old college student died after he figured in a motorcycle accident on San Juan Street, Barangay Sum-ag here last Wednesday.
Police withheld the name of the victim upon the request of the family.
Police Major Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), said the victim was allegedly speeding on his way home around 2:50 a.m., when he reportedly lost control over his driven motorcycle.
Sarona said the victim crashed into a concrete post or barrier and was thrown off from his motorcycle.
He succumbed to head injuries, due to the impact, according to Sarona.
The victim was also not wearing a helmet, Sarona said.
Meanwhile, a laborer was killed, while a steelman was wounded after their motorcycles collided in Barangay Isidro, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police identified the fatality as Jose Lumanog, 39, of Barangay Patun-an.
Wounded was 32-year-old Cleoford Cabaluna of San Carlos City.
Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., town police chief, said that Lumanog allegedly hit Cabaluna’s motorcycle, which was approaching the highway.
Both motorcycles swerved, causing the two drivers to fall to the ground.
The motorcycle riders suffered fractures and other injuries. However, Lumanog passed away a few hours later in a hospital, according to Benoman.
