Faster transport of agricultural products from farms to the market is now enjoyed by residents of far-flung communities in Alimodian, Iloilo with the improved road undertaken by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office.
Citing the report of OIC-District Engineer (DE) Mario G. Soriano, DPWH-6 Regional Director Lea N. Delfinado said the Laylayan-Bagsakan-Punong-Bugang Road is already paved to provide better transport access.
“This road improvement project makes a vital contribution to economic development and growth of the people in the highlands by providing them easy access to basic services and economic opportunities that may improve the quality of their lives,” Delfinado said.
The 1.99-kilometer road, which cost P24.64 million, was funded by the district’s 2021 Regular Infrastructure Program. It has two segments – the 1.6-kilometer road from Brgy. Laylayan to Brgy. Bagsakan (P19.799 million) and the 393-meter road from Bagsakan to Brgy. Bugang, amounting (P4.841 million).
OIC-District Engineer Mario G. Soriano said the concreting of the 820-meter farm-to-market road in Brgy. Malawog in Sta. Barbara is already completed and cost P9.8848 million.
“This road is beneficial particularly in the transport of agricultural products from the farms to the market, as well as easy access of basic government services to remote areas,” Soriano said.
The concreting of these roads is one of the significant contributions of DPWH towards development in central Iloilo.
More road projects are ongoing to provide ease of travel and faster delivery of basic services even to far flung and highland communities in the province. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
