A 38-year-old construction worker was arrested evening of Feb. 6 in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
The suspect, alias Nonoy, also a resident of San Dionisio, was accused of repeatedly abusing his adopted daughter.
Members of San Dionisio Municipal Police Station, together with San Rafael MPS and the Maritime Police Station, collared the suspect by virtue of an arrest warrant for nine counts of rape under Article 266 -A (I), in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code docketed in Criminal Case Numbers 2024-11381 to 2024-11389.
Judge Jose Mauricio Gomez of the 6th Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 71 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on Jan. 18, 2024.
No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Lieutenant Edward Villanis, San Dionisio police chief, said Nonoy is the top 10 most wanted person in Western Visayas.
The minor-victim was accompanied by her 14-year-old boyfriend and a pastor when they lodged the complaint last year.
The local police have been monitoring the suspect since September 2023 but couldn’t apprehend him yet since the arrest warrant was only forwarded last week.
Villanis said the suspect was apparently waiting for the arrest warrant to go out since he was immediately assisted by a private lawyer after he was arrested.
Aside from Nonoy, his cousin was also accused by the same complainant of three counts of rape.
He was already arrested last year.
