A construction worker was stabbed dead by a still unidentified person late evening of April 3, 2022 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.

The victim, Roger Hudtohan Jr., 20, of Zone 14, Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo succumbed to a stab injury on his back.

Prior to the incident, Hudtohan attended the birthday party of his aunt who lives near them. He consumed liquor and then drank soda in a store at Zone 12.

Hudtohan was walking in an alley around 11:15 p.m. Sunday when a lone man ran after him.

A witness claimed to have heard Hudtohan say, “Wala ko sala (I have no fault)” prior to the supposed stabbing episode.

Another witness claimed to have seen what appeared to be two men in a grappling stance.

Hudtohan was later discovered slumped on the pavement.

He was taken to Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Major Chen Tañagras, Iloilo City Police Station 6 chief, said they are still investigating the suspect and the motive of the incident.

“He could have picked a fight because he was already under the influence of liquor,” she said.

As described by witnesses, the assailant was wearing black t-shirt and black pair of shorts.

He was deemed to have slim body build and stands at 5’4″.
