The police officer arrested in an anti-illegal cockfight raid last Nov 25, 2022 in Banate, Iloilo has returned to duty.
Patrolman Yollyric Paparon, 36, a resident of Barangay Cag-an, Anilao, Iloilo, posted bail in the amount of P18,000 a day after his arrest.
He was charged with violation of Presidential Decree 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974).
Paparon reported to the Tubungan Municipal Police Station on Monday, Nov 28.
Lieutenant Rodel Ojano, Tubungan police chief, confirmed that Paparon was back on duty but remains under restricted status.
“I don’t allow him to go out since he’s still under investigation,” he said.
There was no need for Paparon to be disarmed since his issued firearm – a caliber .9mm pistol with one 1 magazine loaded with 17 live ammunition – was seized during his arrest, Ojano said.
He added that they’re just waiting for an order for Paparon’s reassignment to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) headquarters at Camp Sumagaysay in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
There were also reports that Paparon, who’s been in the service for six years, was also the subject of an arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 9262) Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004) for alleged failure to support his wife and children.
He posted a P36,000 bail for this case.
