BACOLOD CITY – The Victorias City Police Station in Negros Occidental has yet to identify a man who was brutally murdered by unidentified perpetrators in Victorias City, Negros Occidental over the weekend.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, Victorias City police chief, urged the public to contact him via 09393581049 if they have loved ones who went missing.
Corpuz said he already called neighboring police stations to check on reported missing persons in their areas, but there was no development yet.
On Sunday morning, the remains of an unidentified man believed to have been a victim of summary execution was found by a barangay watchman at Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A.
The victim was described by police to be slender, fair, with a height of 5’5”, and around 45 to 60 years old.
He had two gunshot wounds, his face was covered with plastic and packaging tape, and both his legs were tied.
Based on the post-mortem examination conducted by the City Health Office, it was revealed that the victim had cracked ribs, an indication that he was severely beaten. His two ears were also cut off, Corpuz said.
Corpuz believed that the victim might have been killed somewhere else and later dumped in the area as there has been no reported missing individual in Victorias City in the past days.
A placard with the words “I love drugs,” was also left on the victim’s body.
Corpuz said they must identify the victim first to establish the motive. Investigation is ongoing.
Two weeks ago, a man who was believed to have been summarily executed was also found in Barangay Tabigue, in the neighboring town of E.B. Magalona on February 25. The victim expired at a hospital later that day.
