A married couple was arrested in a police anti-illegal drug operation afternoon of Nov. 26 in San Miguel, Iloilo.

Spouses Raffy Amano and Juliet Amano, both 38 years old and residents of Barangay San Jose, San Miguel, Iloilo, are accused of conniving to sell a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.

Members of San Miguel Municipal Police Station, together with Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU) and 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC), carried out the operation after a prior test buy.

Recovered from their possession were nine more sachets of suspected shabu, a matchbox, and a disposable lighter.

Major Richard Lao, San Miguel police chief, said that the suspects had been placed under police monitoring for several months prior to their arrest.

They kept mum on their source but police reports claimed they could have been getting their supply from Iloilo City.

The suspects have no permanent work and are just doing odd jobs.

They have no child together but Juliet has a child from a previous relationship.

While the suspects have no previous drug-related arrests, Raffy is a tokhang surrenderer.

In fact, he was still attending community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBDRP) and is set to graduate soon.

The Amano couple is now detained and will charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
