BACOLOD City – A couple died while a family of three was injured after a motorcycle collided with a tricycle at Purok Timawa, Barangay Maao, Bago City, Negros Occidental Wednesday night.
Chief Master Sergeant Celso Omega, deputy police chief of Bago City Police Station, identified the fatalities as Myrone Eslais, and his live-in partner Debbie Joy Leganada, 28, both residents of Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City.
The wounded were John Algara, 25, and his parents -Josefina Algara, 54, and Roberto Algara, 51, all residents of Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City.
Omega said the motorcycle driven by Eslais reportedly overshot to the opposite lane which led to the collision.
The couple, who was on their way home, suffered head injuries which resulted in the immediate death of Leganada.
Eslais was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, Omega said.
Omega said the couple had helmets, but they did not wear them.
Omega said John, who was driving a tricycle, suffered serious injuries and is now at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital here while his parents are also confined at a hospital.
The family was on their way home when the accident occurred, he added.
