Three persons were arrested following a police anti-narcotics operation Sunday in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Police identified the suspects as Melvin Gonzales, 30, and his wife, 32-year old Ma. Jiesa Gonzales, of Barangay Gustilo, La Paz, Iloilo City; and Mark Miranda, 29, of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU) carried out the buy bust operation against Melvin in front of a motorist hotel in Barangay Bolilao 12 p.m. Sunday.

Police operatives claimed that the suspect allegedly wanted to evade arrest. He hopped into his motorcycle and sped off. But it didn’t take far before he slipped and fell from the motorcycle, injuring his elbow.

Melvin allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,900 to a police poseur buyer. Another 8 sachets of suspected shabu were found in his possession.

Miranda, on the other hand, was Melvin’s cohort and had been sourcing his supply from the latter.

Melvin told police operatives that he has been delivering drugs in Mandurriao but declined to reveal his source.

The three suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Meanwhile, three young men were arrested after they allegedly connived in selling suspected illegal drugs Sunday evening in Oton, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspects as Victor Esprago of Barangay Poblacion East, Oton; and Janrey Tamon and Eric Villaresco, both residents of Barangay Tanza Baybay, City Proper district, Iloilo City.

Police Major Gervinson Moyo, Oton police chief, said the suspects are all 22 years old.

Esprago was the main target of the police anti-narcotics operation but his two accomplices allegedly helped materialized the transaction.

Before members of Oton Police Station and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) made the arrest, Esprago allegedly received the buy bust money, which he passed off to Villaresco.

On the other hand, it was Tamon who handed the sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.

During their arrest, the suspects were yielded with three sachets of suspected shabu and cash amounting to P3,450.

The suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
