Cousins, water refilling helper face illegal drugs raps

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two cousins and a water refilling helper are facing illegal drugs charges following their arrest in separate drug buy-bust operations Wednesday here.

Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against Maricel Bergantinos, 38, and Rocky Bolena, 27, food vendors and both residents of Sitio Casandra, Barangay Punta Tabuc here.

The two were arrested in a drug bust conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Roxas City police station in Brgy. Punta Tabuc here.

Recovered from the cousins were 6 sachets of suspected shabu with street value at P3,400, the P1,000 marked money, a cellphone and a wallet.

Bergantinos was also arrested in 2017 for the same offense but she was released from detention in February 2021 after her case was dismissed.

On the other hand, the Capiz Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Major Francisco Paguia in coordination with the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 6), arrested Alejo Vidal, 31, a helper of a water refilling station and resident of Brgy. 11 here, in a drug bust at Premier De Mayo St., Barangay 9.

Recovered from the suspect were 18 sachets of suspected shabu, P500 marked money and a motorcycle.

Vidal denied the accusations against him.
