COVID-19 death toll in Capiz surges to 240

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has claimed 240 lives in the province of Capiz.

Data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on July 5 indicated that Roxas City is still on top of the list with 103 deaths.

It was followed by the towns of Pontevedra with 22, Panitan (20), President Roxas (14), Mambusao (12), Panay (12), Jamindan (9), Pilar (8), Dumalag (6), Ivisan (6), Maayon (6), Sigma (5), Dao (4), Dumarao (4), Tapaz (4), Sapian (3), and Cuartero (2).

The PHO data also indicated that the province has logged 4,483 confirmed cases (3,739 recoveries and 504 active cases).

Meanwhile, work at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan(SP) was suspended Monday to give way to the disinfection of the offices of the vice governor and board members.

Vice Governor Jaime Magbanua said those who have concerns with the provincial board can coordinate with SP Secretary Zoe Herrera who is available at his office.

Board Member Thea Faith Reyes underwent home quarantine after she tested positive for COVID-19.
