COVID cases in WV breach 7.5k mark

Confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas are now at 7,555, according to the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020.

This, as DOH-WV CHD reported 412 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, with 193 new cases on Saturday, Sept. 12, and 219 on Sunday.

The active cases in the region is at 3,253.

Bacolod City reported the most number with 213 new cases, followed by Negros Occidental with 80, Iloilo City with 44, Capiz province with 24, and Iloilo province with 9.

New COVID-19 cases which were for verification were reported only on Sept. 12, with 13 in Iloilo City, 5 in Iloilo province, 3 in Capiz, 3 in Bacolod City, 2 in Guimaras, and 1 in Negros Occidental.

Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) accounted for 10 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, with Negros reporting 5, Iloilo province with 2, and Iloilo City, Bacolod City, and Capiz province listing 1 new LSI case each.

Negros Occidental province, Iloilo City, Iloilo province, and Bacolod City each listed 1 new COVID-19 case of Returned Overseas Filipinos (ROF) during the weekend, for a total of 4 new cases.

Only 1 new case among Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) was reported over the weekend, a 32-year-old male from Talisay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 7162).

Twenty COVID-19 cases were also confirmed to have remained positive in repeat tests.

The DOH-WV CHD also reported 441 new recovered COVID-19 cases over the weekend, with 359 new recoveries on Sept. 12 and 82 new recoveries on Sept. 13.

The total number of recoveries as of Sept. 13 is 4,184.

Negros Occidental listed the most recoveries with 229, Bacolod City with 123, Iloilo City with 42, Iloilo province with 32, Capiz with 12, Antique with 2, and Aklan province with 1.

The region also listed 9 new deaths, with 8 new deaths confirmed on Sept. 12 and 1 new death confirmed on Sept. 13.

The new COVID-19 deaths in the region include:

– a 54-year-old male from Lemery, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 3074);

– a 36-year-old male from City Proper, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 3148);

– a 32-year-old female La Carlota City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 4991);

– a 74-year-old male from City Proper, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 5122);

– a 33-year-old male from Lapuz, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 5367);

– a 55-year-old male from Talisay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 6433);

– a 81-year-old female from La Paz, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 6646);

– a 64-year-old male from Jaro, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 7160); and

– a 62-year-old female from Silay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 7471).

 

A total of 4,574 laboratory test results were released by the DOH-WV CHD over the weekend, with 4,142 tests showing negative results.

These results were released by 10 accredited Sub-National and Molecular Laboratories – 8 of in Western Visayas and 2 in Cebu.
