COVID infects another Negros cop

BACOLOD City – Another officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here was infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

This was confirmed by Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s deputy public information officer, during the virtual press conference yesterday.

Donasco said the infected cop was a non-commissioned officer assigned to a police station in the northern part of the province.

She said the infected cop was asymptomatic and is currently in a quarantine facility.

She said the new case was reported last January 27, bringing the total to 41 cases, as of February 2.

Of the total number, 38 have recovered from the virus, while three others were active cases.

Meanwhile, Donasco said that 150 Nocppo personnel detailed at the headquarters here tested negative of the virus during the mass testing held last week with the support of the provincial government.

It is part of the safety measures of the provincial police force to ensure that their personnel are Covid-free while performing their duties amid the pandemic.
