The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) seized around PHP11.5-million worth of illegal drugs in January 2021 alone.

Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo police chief, said the illegal drugs were confiscated in 27 anti-narcotics operations conducted last month.

Based on the monitoring report of the IPPO Provincial Operations Management Unit, the anti-illegal drug operations led to confiscation of more than 770 grams of shabu and 840 grams of marijuana.

The Pavia Municipal Police Station logged the most number of arrested drug pushers with seven.

In 2020, the Pavia Municipal Police Station has maintained its lead in Iloilo province’s anti-illegal drug campaign for two consecutive years.

Oton MPS scored the highest seizure of 687 grams of drugs worth PHP10-million.

On January 5, a 30-year-old woman was arrested with around PHP8-million worth of suspected shabu in a drug sting at Barangay San Antonio, Oton.

Mary Joy Villarina, 39, a resident of Deca Homes in Barangay Pandac, Pavia, Iloilo, was collared with more than 400 grams of shabu.

On January 21, Iloilo police also arrested Elmer Niquia and seized shabu weighing 199.734 grams, PHP20,000 buy bust money, and other drug paraphernalia during the operation at Botda Village in Barangay Buray, Oton.

Gorero lauded the Ilonggo cops for these accomplishments, which he said spoke volumes of their commitment and dedication in the war against illegal drugs.
