The Creamline Cool Smashers banked on their team chemistry and balanced attack to sweep the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-20, 25-20, 25-16, in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference last October 21, 2023, held at the Batangas City Sports Center.
It was a wire-to-wire victory for the reigning PVL queens as they schooled the talented Cignal squad with their disciplined floor defense and timely offensive hits.
The Cool Smashers immediately snatched the momentum of the match in the opening set as they mounted a 14-7 advantage midway through the first frame.
From their signature quick 1-2 attacks to their solid middle blocking performance, the Cool Smashers just dominated every facet of the game which allowed them to roll past Cignal in just three sets.
“I think sobrang maganda yung game namin kasi lahat nag-contribute, lahat naman nag-lead sa laro,” said Creamline chief tactician Sherwin Meneses.
Michele Gumabao continued to step up for Creamline and top-scored the squad with 20 points built from 22 successful attacks.
Backstopping the former DLSU outside spiker was Tots Carlos who chipped in 10 markers, eight excellent receptions, and eight excellent digs.
Pangs Panaga, the team’s veteran middle blocker, filled the void for Ced Domingo once again and swatted away two attacks from Cignal alongside three attacks and two service aces.
With the victory, the Cool Smashers just clinched its second straight victory and remained undefeated in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Creamline will have the chance to kick off their PVL campaign with a 3-0 start as they face Gerflor this Thursday to be held in Antipolo City.
