Daily Guardian, Western Visayas’ most innovative media outfit, unveiled on Friday, October 20, 2023, historical markers in Iloilo City to commemorate 22 years of telling the Ilonggo story.
Seven markers spread across the metro were simultaneously revealed by Daily Guardian Publisher Lawrence Clark Fernandez, Vice-President External Lcid Crescent Fernandez, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, Councilors Rudolph Ganzon and Johnny Young, Boy City Councilor Raphael Alejandro P. Vargas, and Girl City Councilor Chery Magdalane Silva in a ceremony held at Plaza Libertad in City Proper, Iloilo City.
For more than two decades, Daily Guardian has faithfully put into writing Iloilo’s history, keeping record of its vibrant narratives and milestones. This legacy now takes a tangible form as the newspaper celebrates its 22nd anniversary.
As we mark this milestone, we reflect upon the stories of yesteryears, drawing inspiration from the past to forge a brighter future. This momentous occasion is part of Daily Guardian’s year-long anniversary campaign, “Ilonggo Stories Continue with You.”
The see-through markers frame the subjects of actual headlines from Daily Guardian’s coverage, with a QR code that directs to a microsite with the actual articles.
These markers can be found at prominent locations throughout Iloilo City, including Diversion Road, Esplanade 1 – Extension, Jaro Plaza, Molo Plaza, Plaza Libertad, Sunburst Park, and Calle Real. Scan the QR code of each marker to learn how Daily Guardian keeps on telling stories that continue with you.
