ONE Championship’s Flyweight rising star, Danny Kingad, is preparing for life after his MMA career.
While waiting for his next bout and staying still amid the COVID-19 crisis, Kingad decided to focus again on his studies after returning to the University of Cordilleras to earn his graduate degree from secondary education.
Kingad claimed that acquiring a diploma is the same as clinching a world title belt, and education is still his top priority despite his intensive training.
When Kingad was climbing his way into the pedestal of ONE Championship, he decided to halt his studies to focus on his MMA career while at the same time doing his duties as a father and a husband.
After losing in the finals of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship finals, Kingad then waited for his next shot at the title but due to the COVID-19 crisis, all MMA matches were canceled by the ONE management.
Kingad then thought that finishing his studies would be one of the keys allowing him to bring success to his family than sticking with MMA long-term, saying that his body will give up eventually.
“I was pinned for time. I was always tired. Now that I have time, I went back so I can finish it. Our baby is a lot bigger now, so we can get someone to look after him. If I get my degree, I can put my mind on training non-stop. I’ll compete first before teaching. I’ll be teaching but maybe in retirement,” Kingad said.
