The Cignal HD Spikers ended their elimination round campaign with a dominating win against the Black Mamba Army Lady Troopers, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19, and completed a 4-0 sweep in Pool A of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

Rachel Anne Daquis was once again the star of the show after recording an impressive triple-double stat-line of 13 points, 18 excellent digs, and 12 excellent receptions.

The veteran spiker was all over the place and was also the one responsible for the team’s turn around going down in the second set.

Aside from Daquis’ vintage performance, Cignal’s head coach Shaq Delos Santos also made the right adjustments and deployed another veteran outside hitter in Ces Molina who sparked the team in the third set, finishing with 12 huge points.

Newly-acquired national team staple Ria Meneses also played consistently and ended the match with 15 successful attacks.

“We didn’t play the game we really wanted, but it’s a good thing we survived, and we overcame. I thank the Lord for guiding us,” said Delos Santos.

With the huge win, the HD Spikers will now have two days of full recovery as they are set to square off against the BaliPure Water Defenders in the quarterfinals.

Cignal will be carrying a twice-to-beat advantage against the Water Defenders, a playoff edge they gained after finishing the eliminations as the no.1 team with a 4-0 record.
