Dengue cases in Iloilo City continue to rise amid the onset of the rainy season.
Total dengue cases in the metro climbed to 131 as of July 2, 2022 based on data from the City Health Office (CHO).
CHO reported that Iloilo City logged 131 dengue cases with one fatality from January 1 to July 2, which is 32 % lower than 145 cases recorded in the same period last year.
Children aged 1 to 10 years old remain the most affected age group with 56 cases; followed by 11 to 20 years old (41 cases); 21 to 30 years old (33); and 41 to 50 years old (4).
Meanwhile, the district of Mandurriao recorded the most number of cases at 33 followed by Jaro II (26); La Paz (20); Arevalo (17); Lapuz, (10); Jaro I (8); City Proper and Molo with six cases each.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has said in a previous media interview that the city government is prepared for the possible surge of dengue cases.
The mayor said that they are preparing quarantine facilities which shall be converted to hydration units if the cases continue to rise. (DG)
