A suspected drug peddler was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation late afternoon of Dec 6, 2021 in Arevalo, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as Dave de Leon, 31, a resident of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-6), together with operatives from Iloilo City Police Station 6, the Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU-6) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-6)’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Team, collared de Leon after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P18,000.
When later frisked, de Leon yielded an empty cigarette box containing 11 pieces of suspected shabu.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, RPDEU chief, said that the seized drugs weighed around 20 grams and valued at P136,000.
The RPDEU considered the suspect a high-value target.
De Leon is allegedly a member of True Brown Style (TBS) 13 Gang and was implicated in a robbery incident several years ago.
During the operation, police also arrested the suspect’s live-in partner, 30-year-old Jackylen Wendam, after she intervened in his arrest.
She alleged shouted at police operatives who collared de Leon.
Even at the police station, the couple created a scene. Wendam went “hysterical” while de Leon blamed her for not being able to restrain herself.
De Leon told the woman that she could not have been in jail with him if she did not meddle in the arrest.
Wendam was arrested for alarm and scandal and obstruction of justice.
De Leon, on the other hand, will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and resisting arrest.
