BACOLOD City – An alleged drunk was arrested after he attempted to hurt a village councilman when he was reprimanded for violating curfew hours in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
Arrested was Roy Parreno, 48.
A report from Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said that Kagawad Wenefredo Victoriano Jr., of Barangay Burgos, along with some village watchmen were conducting a roving patrol in the village when he saw Parreno and his friends drinking outside his residence around 10:15 p.m.
Victoriano talked to Parreno but he did not comply. Then the suspect allegedly grabbed a piece of wood and struck him but the barangay official was able to evade the attack, police records showed.
The village watchmen arrested the suspect but he resisted. He was later subdued and was brought to the police station.
