DTI, BOI, Digital Pilipinas push to make PH an investment and digital ASEAN gateway

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Board of Investments (BOI), in partnership with Digital Pilipinas, hosted an investment reception on 21 September 2023 to bring together industry champions with a common goal of raising investor awareness on the opportunities presented by the country.

The event serves as a platform for showcasing the nation’s potential as the gateway to ASEAN’s vibrant investment and digital landscape.

The lunch reception is a crucial part of the BOI’s drive to secure PHP 1.5 trillion in approved investments in the country for this year.

Under the leadership of DTI Secretary and BOI Chair Fred Pascual, DTI-BOI recognizes the power of digitalization and remains steadfast in its mission to propel economic development through strategic initiatives.

“As we always say, recovery from COVID-19 is not going back to what we had. It is looking forward to a transformed world. And we will be part of those people who will transform the world for the better. And the post-pandemic world is digital,” Sec. Pascual said.

The “Make it Happen in the Philippines” campaign, championed by the BOI, took center stage during the gathering and provided insights into the country’s competitive advantages as an investment destination and its pivotal role in the ASEAN region.

As part of the MIH campaign, the first batch of Philippine Investment Champions were introduced during the event. The Champions were invited to participate and engage in the campaign’s initiative to provide proof of the successful investments in the country.

The Philippine Investment Champions shared their experience and success story as a business in the country, aiming to inspire action and help position the Philippines as a prime investment hub and gateway to the ASEAN region and the rest of the world.

These testimonials were captured in videos that will be presented by DTI-BOI in their social media platforms and global missions to talk about the Philippines.

Testimonials from these Champions will lend credence to the value proposition of the Philippines, further encouraging foreign investments into the country.

Digital Pilipinas, in collaboration with DTI-BOI, expressed profound gratitude to the investment champions, country partners, and co-convenors who have played instrumental roles in positioning the Philippines as a premier investment hub and in elevating the nation’s status on both the ASEAN stage and the global arena.

The event was graced by diplomatic ambassadors and company executives from the Manufacturing, and Transport (IMT), Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT), and Health and Life Sciences (HLS) and fintech sectors.
