The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said applications for business name registration (BNR) is now fully accessible online.

According to DTI Region 6 OIC-Regional Director Ermelinda Pollentes, the 100% online implementation of BN registration services officially commenced on August 1, 2023.

“With this new online system, entrepreneurs can now register their business names through a convenient and efficient digital platform,” Pollentes said.

All DTI regional and provincial offices, as well as Negosyo Centers, can provide comprehensive online BN registration services, covering new applications, renewals, and certification requests.

However, certain cases such as new applications from foreign nationals or recognized refugees/stateless individuals, will still require further evaluation.

“This move towards complete online BN registration services is part of DTI’s ongoing efforts to streamline the registration process and create a business-friendly environment for entrepreneurs”, Pollentes added.

This development is beneficial for aspiring entrepreneurs across the country, as they can now easily access the registration services from the comfort of their homes or offices.

By encouraging applicants to directly apply online, the BN processors can now allocate more time to vital tasks like Business Counseling, thus, reducing waiting times for walk-in clients.

While the majority of services will be available through the online platform, certain specific services, such as cancellation, Certified True Copy, Update of Civil Status, and Change of Scope, will still be handled at the DTI Provincial Offices.

The registration fees for business names vary based on territorial scope, with fees set at P200 for barangay, P500 for city/municipality, P1,000 for regional, and P2,000 for national registrations. All registration fees are subject to an additional P30 documentary stamp tax.

The DTI has also provided multiple payment options for the convenience of applicants. Payments can be made through over-the-counter cash transactions at Landbank Link.Biz or at selected authorized establishments such as 7-Eleven, Palawan Pawnshop, and Bayad Express.

Applicants also have the flexibility to make payments through DTI Special Collecting Officer/Cashier at the DTI Provincial Offices.

OIC-RD Pollentes hopes that this shift towards full online business name registration services will boost ease of doing business, encourage entrepreneurship, and provide a seamless and accessible process for individuals aspiring to embark on their entrepreneurial journey in Western Visayas.

Business name applicants who plan to register online may access the BNR system through the official website at www.bnrs.dti.gov.ph.
