The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Makati have launched a partnership aimed at catalyzing the Philippine Halal industry.
The announcement, made at the PCCI’s Second General Membership Meeting on April 26, 2024, heralds the establishment of a Makati Halal Hub, intended to thrust the Philippines into the limelight of the global Halal market.
DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual highlighted the crucial role of the partnership in nurturing and promoting the Halal industry across the nation. The memorandum of understanding between DTI and PCCI Makati sets forth a plan to bolster industry infrastructure and broaden its international footprint.
The proposed Halal Hub in Makati will serve as an epicenter for innovation and commerce across diverse sectors including food production and financial services, promising significant opportunities for local and international entrepreneurs. This aligns with the DTI’s broader mission to invigorate Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by fostering competitive markets and entrepreneur-friendly processes, particularly by embracing Industry 4.0 technologies.
Secretary Pascual called upon the collective efforts of all members and stakeholders of DTI and PCCI Makati to participate in the vibrant dialogue of program development and policy-making. This collaboration is envisaged to fine-tune the business climate not just in Makati but across the Philippines.
Expressing appreciation to PCCI Makati for spearheading this initiative, Secretary Pascual encouraged all present to remain committed to the nation’s economic vitality.
“Together, we will foster a legacy of growth, resilience, and innovation, ensuring that our nation remains a competitive force in the global market,” Secretary Pascual said.
