An elderly man was wounded after refusing to give his bag containing P150,000 cash to a robber in Lambunao, Iloilo.

The incident happened as 65-year-old Jose Juan Leysa of Loberiza Subdivision, Poblacion Ilawod, Lambunao, was waiting for a ride to his meat stall around 5:20 a.m. of Dec. 20, 2019 when the attack happened.

Two motorcycle-riding men allegedly passed by him. Seconds later, the motorcycle turned around and the back rider alighted.

Police Major Jogen Suegay, Lambunao police chief, said the back rider grabbed the man’s cash-laden bag.

The money was intended to buy livestock to be slaughtered and sold at Leysa’s stall.

But Leysa allegedly put up a fight and grappled for the bag. The suspect then stabbed the victim on the shoulder, left hand, and arm.

The robber took the bag from the wounded man and quickly hopped on the motorcycle. The two suspects fled while concerned folks took the victim to the hospital.

As this developed, Suegay said the victim is now in stable condition.

Meanwhile, police investigators already have persons of interest in the robbery.

Suegay said the suspects are from Lambunao but were seen in nearby towns.
